IFS / CGL, Cologne

The addition of a multifunctional event auditorium provides the International Filmschool (ifs) and the Cologne Game Lab (CGL) in Cologne with more flexibility to train and educate future experts. The movie and/or lecture auditorium was designed to fulfill a variety of usage requirements regarding  projection, sound and lighting. The inclusion of announcer and interpreter booths as well as a large projection room supports multiple training purposes. Additionally, the stage in front of the projection screen provides the perfect setting for panel discussions.

A self-supporting traverse system is an elegant solution to the fact that the basic structure of the building did not allow for any ceiling mounting. Besides various mountings for user-specific lighting and other technology, it also creates space for sound-effective surfaces on the ceiling. Fabric panels stretched between the backlit traverse system on wall and ceiling add visual variety.
